SERVICE, WARRANTY & OPERATION RESOURCES

Explore the categories of our most frequently received questions post handover.

WHEELS, BEARINGS & SUSPENSION

Q: How often should I repack the wheel bearings?
A: Every 5,000km under normal conditions, or sooner if you’ve driven through water or rough terrain.

Q: Should I carry spare wheel bearings?
A: Not normally, but if traveling remotely, it’s wise to have a pre-greased spare set with a seal.

Q: Is Cruisemaster ATX air bag suspension an option?
A: Yes, on Alpine 14, 15, and 16 models if ordered early. XT cannot be upgraded to ATX. For support, call 07 3624 3800 or visit:
https://cruisemaster.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Q: What’s the main benefit of ATX air bag suspension?
A: It increases the ATM to 3 tonnes. More info: https://cruisemaster.com.au/atx/

Q: Which level of Cruisemaster air bag suspension is standard?
A: Level 3 is standard, offering manual controls. Learn more: https://cruisemaster.com.au/air-control-kits/

Q: Is Level 4 Cruisemaster air suspension available and what’s the benefit?
A: Yes. It’s fully automated. Contact sales for pricing. More info: https://cruisemaster.com.au/air-control-kits/

Q: What maintenance does Cruisemaster suspension need?
A: Regularly check toe-in, camber, and alignment. Uneven tire wear indicates alignment issues. More info: https://cruisemaster.com.au/air-control-kits/

Q: How should I set the Cruisemaster air bag height for travel?
A: Use the ride height guide inside the wheel arches. Video: https://youtu.be/YDa4jiIcKvM?feature=shared

Q: What pressure should I use in the Cruisemaster air bags?
A: Adjust according to load and don’t exceed 90psi. Follow the ride height guide. Video: https://youtu.be/YDa4jiIcKvM?feature=shared

Q: My Cruisemaster air bag is losing pressure—what should I check?
A: Inspect air lines for leaks, check the air bag for damage, and ensure valves aren’t leaking.

Q: How do I adjust the ride height on air bag suspension?
A: Align the top of the tire with the guide inside the wheel arch.

Q: What routine suspension maintenance is required?
A: Grease swing arm bushes, check bolt torque, ensure proper wheel alignment, and inspect brake pads and bearings regularly.

Q: How do I maintain the DO35 coupling?
A: Grease the single fitting and keep the locking mechanism clean and lubricated.

Q: How do I properly adjust the handbrake?
A: First adjust the main brakes, then set the handbrake to hold at about seven clicks.

Q: My brakes aren’t working—what should I do?
A: Check all wiring connections at the tow vehicle, the trailer plug, and behind the brake drums.

WATER SYSTEMS & WATER TANKS

Q: Will both water tanks empty at the same time if I open them together?
A: Each tank has its own tap. If both are open, the one nearest the pump empties first. For balance, start with the front tank only, then switch to the rear once the front is empty.

Q: Why aren’t my water gauges showing a full reading?
A: The sensors are placed about 50mm below the tank’s top, so the top 20L won’t register. The indicators are just a guide, not exact measurements.

Q: Why won’t my water pump turn off?
A: Your tank may be empty, or there’s air in the line. After refilling, run all taps until the flow is steady. Also, ensure all tank taps and fittings are secure.

Q: Why is my water flow weak?
A: Low tank level, leaking fittings, or a clogged filter/tap could be the cause. Check each of these points and address any issues found.

Q: Should I use an inline water filter?
A: Yes. New Alpines come with one, and it helps remove debris—especially important when filling up in remote areas.

Q: How do I remove the Truma hot water exhaust cover?
A: Refer to the manufacturer’s YouTube video or instructions for the proper removal process.

ELECTRICAL POWER SYSTEMS

Q: Why won’t my Redvision screen turn on?
A: The panel may be locked. Press the main power button twice to unlock. Video: https://youtu.be/Fs1vpLw5j4s?feature=shared

Video: https://youtu.be/Fs1vpLw5j4s?feature=shared

Q: There’s no 240V power—what should I check?
A: Verify all safety switches and the inverter are on, confirm the external power source is live, and inspect the power lead for damage.

Q: Why are my lights not working?
A: Check that the light switch is on, the battery is charged, and the switch panel is unlocked. If these are fine, check the bulb or fixture.

Q: How can I charge batteries if my camper is under cover?
A: Use a portable solar panel plugged into the external solar input, making sure to disconnect the panel’s regulator first.

Q: Why isn’t the Redarc solar input green light illuminating?
A: An extra solar controller may bypass the indicator. Use the Victron app for accurate solar readings.

Q: How do I reset the battery?
A: Connect the Anderson plug to your car, start the engine, and press the reset button for about 20 seconds until the voltage rises above 12V.

Q: The electric roof won’t move—how do I fix it?
A: The actuators may need resetting. Check for obstructions and follow the procedure: https://youtu.be/2nxTj_16oZU?feature=shared

Q: My air conditioner isn’t working. Any suggestions?
A: Confirm 240V supply, ensure all safety switches and the inverter are on, and check the battery charge.

HEATING & HOT WATER

Q: How do I turn the VBK diesel heater on and off?
A: Refer to the provided YouTube instructional video from the manufacturer.

Q: Why is my VBK diesel heater smoking and smelling of diesel?
A: The air intake is likely clogged with dust. Clean the intake thoroughly to restore proper airflow.

Q: How do I operate the Webasto diesel hot water and heater?
A: Follow the instructions in this video: https://youtu.be/p4wD73ixao8?feature=shared

Q: My Webasto diesel hot water system isn’t working—what now?

Q: I’m getting no hot air from my diesel heater—what’s wrong?
A: Allow about 20 minutes for it to heat. If still cold, check the pump and clear any air locks.

EXTERIOR & FITTINGS

Q: Do I need a stone stamper?
A: Yes. It protects the front of the van. All new Alpines include a bracket for a Stonestomper. More info: https://stonestomper.com.au/

Q: Should I fit a rubber stone mat under the van?
A: Yes. It protects the underside in front of the front water tank. All new Alpines come standard with one.

A: Adjust the door latch. Remove the cover, loosen the screws, close and lock the door, then retighten the screws for a better seal.

A: Yes. Regularly clean the filter accessed under the top cover.
